Beginning in 1978, new residential and commercial construction (including additions and modifications) in California are required to meet minimum energy efficiency standards. These standards are located under Title 24 – Part 6 & 11 of the California Code of Regulations.
The objective of this code is to reduce wasteful energy use by ensuring new construction projects and existing building alterations meet California’s minimum energy requirements. These requirements are updated every three (3) years.
